Mistakes Ministers Make: Introduction
September 9, 2008
Greetings in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ,
I am thankful for the pastors who have shepherded me over the years. I have been blessed with some very godly men for my pastor. However, pastors are human too. After years of observation, I've seen pastors who fail in ministry make some all-too-common mistakes:
1. They aren't faithful in their own devotions -- prayer and Bible reading.
All of the following mistakes occur because of the failure with Mistake #1.
2.They sacrifice their family on the altar of their ministry.
3.They don't really trust God.
4.They don't preach from the Bible.
5.They aren't "for real" with their flock.
6.They don't make themselves accountable.
7.They covet another man's ministry.
8.They don't take steps to be certain they are doing God's Will.
9.They covet their laymen's riches.
10.They don't separate themselves from the world.
11.They want to elevate themselves to Christian royalty.
If you have ears to hear oh shepherd, I beg you to listen. These mistakes do not have to be made. And if they are, they are often CSDs (Career Shortening Decisions). With your patience, I will try to address each one in its own article. It would be a wonderful gift to know that these articles saved at least one dear shepherd from repeating the mistakes of his forbears in the ministry.
Needing a shepherd Who Follows the Great Shepherd,
Brother Mike
