Rob Bell and John Lindell
July 1, 2008
Greetings in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ,
My wife had a rather shocking event occur not long ago at a leadership meeting at Central Assembly of God in Springfield, Missouri. The young marrieds’ pastor, Mike McCrary (spelling?), announced to everyone that the reason Peter sank in the stormy sea when walking to Jesus was not because Peter didn’t have faith in Jesus but because he didn’t have faith in himself! He was reading from a book. I asked my wife who the author was and she didn’t recall. I spent months trying to figure out who would have written such a heretical thing.
Finally, folks started coming out of the woodwork and saying that this was classic Rob Bell. They further stated that Rob Bell was right up there with Rick Warren, Bill Hybels, Robert Schuler, Dan Kimball, Brian McLaren, Tony Jones, and Earl Creps. All New Age proponents labeling themselves as Christians.
Then just recently, I learned that Pastor John Lindell, the senior pastor at James River Assembly of God in Springfield, Missouri, has Rob Bell books in the library for his small groups. Pastor Lindell, whether you knew they were there or not, God will hold you responsible for everything that happens in your church. Since you are so highly esteemed for your tough Bible-based preaching, I’d like to assume that you did not know. If you read this web site, you know now!
Please have those books removed from the library and even more, please apologize to your small group leaders for having them in the library. And on top of that, please warn your sheep by name that Rob Bell is a heretic and his books should be burned.
I would say the same to all other A/G leadership and any pastors who read this site. Your job is to protect your sheep from the wolves. And as Paul did frequently, you should name those who teach or preach in error to prevent your sheep from following after. And most importantly, you should encourage all the men of your congregation to be the guard to the sheepfold in their own homes by holding daily devotions with God’s Word. If your men don’t know the Bible, how will they be able to protect themselves, their wives, and their children from the spirit of the anti-Christ that grows each day as Jesus’ return draws ever closer?
Trying to Keep the Wolves at Bay,
Brother Mike
