YOU Songs

January 4, 2006

Greetings in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ,

Matthew 15:7-8 says, “Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, ‘This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoreth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.”

Never has Isaiah’s prophecy nor Jesus’ quotation of it been more true than of the American church of the 21st century. Nearly every Sunday in my own church I can hear a rather new chorus where the name of Jesus Christ nor even God is mentioned. The person being worshipped is identified only as “you.” Sometimes we don’t even bother to give the age-old, customary capitalization to a personal pronoun identifying God Himself (“you”) to demonstrate that this is a very special “you.”

Of course, in this Age of Non-discernment, many folks would likely say, “Brother Mike, what’s the big deal? We all know to whom it is that we are singing.”

I Corinthians 5:6, where Paul is addressing the Corinthians about their failure to mourn the fact that one man in their midst had had sex with his father’s wife, says, “Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?” God emphasizes throughout His Word the importance of little things (He that is faithful in little…, Behold the ships, which though they be so great,…are turned about with a very small helm, Behold how great a matter a little fire kindleth, etc., etc.).

The door to the You Song era was opened by a couple of very popular pop musicians: Debbie Boone (daughter of Pat) and George Harrison. She sang “You Light Up My Life” and he sang “My Sweet Lord.” Everyone thought that Debbie was singing a love song to her man until one day she told a secular interviewer that the song was about Jesus! And I remember hearing Christian kids singing George Harrison’s song like it was a worship song. However, John was not singing to Jesus Christ but rather Hare Krishna (another alias for the Devil). On the one hand, Debbie introduced the idea of the crossover song to aspiring Christian vocalists everywhere. They thought, “Hey, I could make millions just like Debbie Boone if I will just write my songs so that they could be sung to either a lover or to God!” Hence the necessity for the word “you” and the need to remove all references to Jesus Christ, the Cross and the Blood He spilled on our behalf. And George Harrison was an explorer of every vice that Satan has had to offer including the worship of false gods (or Satan cleverly disguised in gold, brass, wood, or as an idea).

And since it is so popular now to be seeker sensitive and to make sure church is “a safe place” for pre-Christians, it is no longer a solid assumption that “we all know to whom it is that we are singing.” The Christian Church can now have Buddhists, Hindus, and Muslims very comfortable singing our worship songs because everyone can identify with “you.” What a great set-up for Satan and his eternal desire to usurp God and sit on God’s throne! He starts by having the church adopt worship songs that no longer espouse the “narrow way” that goes through Jesus Christ and His atoning blood who Himself said in John 14:6, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man cometh unto the Father but by Me.” So, God’s house is filled with both Christians and pre-Christians (there’s no such thing as a pre-Christian; one either is or they are not; the Christian is going to Heaven and the “pre-Christian” is going to Hell) and they are all very comfortable worshipping “you.” Then, in comes New Age teaching (the same stuff that started back in the Garden of Eden and the Tower of Babel) where acceptable forms of god include the global “you” since New Agers teach that “God is in everything.” See Rick Warren’s book, “The Purpose Driven Life,” the bottom of page 88. Rick Warren misquotes the Bible and says that God says that He “is in everything.”

Pastors of the Assemblies of God, not everyone that says “Lord, Lord” will enter into Heaven, and not every Christ in the last days will be Jesus Christ, and Mark 13:22 says, “For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.” And God is NOT “in everything.” He was not in Saddam Hussein as he repeatedly butchered his own countrymen, He was not in Adolph Hitler as he annihilated the Jews, he is not in the homosexual, nor the pedophile, nor the rapist, nor in New Age teachings by wildly popular “Christian” ministers!

And finally, in loving warning, I ask you, “Who could be more elect than the Pentecostal church of the latter rain, who once was totally dependent upon God and knew Him in supernatural power because we lived holy lives?” If Satan can knock off the Assemblies of God, and he is well on his way, then nothing stands between him and his goal of having the world bow down to him via the anti-Christ and his satanic one world government.

More on the New Age (old Devil) invasion of the American Church to follow. Will you ask God for discernment in this age of imitation and global foolishness? Seek God while He may be found or it may be eternally too late. God will hold you responsible for the sheep He has placed under your care!

For the Gospel’s Sake,

Brother Mike
