A Good Steward VOTES!
October 18, 2006
Greetings in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ,
This is your reminder to vote! Shepherds should vote with their families and shepherds should remind their congregation members to vote. I believe voting is the highest civic duty of Christians that are privileged to live in a democratic country. Everything is at stake based on the vote of the Christian community.
A passage of Scripture in Luke 12, starting with verse 47 says, “And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required; and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.”
Further, James 4:17 says, “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”
So, let’s be clear about elections in America. First, just to be an American means that we have been given much by man and God Himself. Therefore, much is required of us. Secondly, we know that although neither party is perfect, one political party in our country endorses abortion and homosexuality as part of their platform and the other does not. Both of these sins are unique in that they are one of only a handful of sins listed by God as abominations. So, voting for members of a party that officially support two abominations in God’s sight is definitely NOT His will. Consequently, the Bible reading Christian knows to do the good of keeping politicians out of office who, by their party affiliation, endorse both abortion and homosexuality. To fail to do this then is sin.
Both of these critical issues will be pushed if a certain party regains control of the Senate and House or Representatives in Washington D.C. They have said so in writing. Further, that same party will also ensure that federal judgeships at all levels of the federal court system will be filled by judges that are in favor of abortion, homosexuality and are anti-anything Christian. We do not want God to hold us guilty of the shedding of innocent blood or the endorsing of sexual activity that cannot possibly give God His Right to the pinnacle of His Own Creation—mankind.
Brothers and sisters, there are some actions we can take to prevent a disastrous election: 1) most important of all, we need to pray and fast as churches and as individuals, 2) we need to vote ourselves, 3) we need to know the political party or decision patterns of all judges for whom we have the opportunity to vote, and 4) we need to have the same knowledge of all other elected officials for the federal government, state government, local government and especially school boards, and 5) shepherds should make Pro-Life and biblically conservative voting information available to their congregation members [refer to my earlier article about “Death and Taxes”]. Organizations such as Focus on the Family often have information available for national elections. Your local conservative political party should have information for state and local officials including judges and school board members.
Good stewards of God’s blessings as Americans, see you at the polls!
For the Gospel’s Sake,
Brother Mike
