August 2005 Update
23 August 2005
Dearest Fellow Members of the Assemblies of God,
First, my apologies that this site has been stagnant since General Council. I’ve been out looking for a job. Apparently, this web site cemented the decision to put me in the ranks of the unemployed. However, to ensure the site was about the issues we face in our Fellowship, and not whether I had a job, we elected to remain silent on the personal front. I’m happy to report that I’ll start work at a new job shortly. We thank God for His provision.
Thanks to all of you who wrote in support of our efforts to expose and declare the truth! But, thank you even more for your prayers and fastings on behalf of this year’s General Council. And thanks to those of you who were blessed enough to be able to travel all the way to Denver to exercise your privilege to vote. I am particularly moved by stories of those who had only enough money to travel—none for food or lodging—and went anyway to make sure they could cast their votes. We rejoice hearing stories of miraculous provision! May God grant you a rich harvest of souls in your towns and may you be blessed with those saints and elders who can disciple the newly birthed sheep.
New Development: If you would like to submit an article or other information for possible publication on this web site, we have an address for you:

We are excited to have additional contributing authors. As always, we reserve the decision to publish or not. Mailed materials will not be returned. Note: if you wish to remain anonymous, we will be very careful to not reveal our sources.

If any of you can make copies of the General Council minutes, we’d appreciate it if you’d send a set to the PO box listed above. A hard copy will help us confirm the following second-hand news regarding the results of voting in Denver: 1) the general superintendent was reelected, 2) the Commission to Study the Springfield Schools was dissolved, 3) the General Presbyters put forward and adopted a resolution that no further study of the Springfield schools would be permitted unless by vote at the General Council, and 4) that the proposed bylaws changes were “shredded” by the General Presbyters and General Council. We would also like confirmation regarding the vote on the following issues: 1) divorce [ministers, laymen or both?], 2) ecumenism, 3) the office of the General Treasurer (is he still the Executive Director of the Treasury?), 4) term limits for Executive Officers and Executive Presbyters, and 5) any others that you who attended deem newsworthy.
In summary folks, this is no time to relax. Just the election results for our Fellowship’s highest office should give us cause for alarm. Those of you who are ministers and missionaries, please encourage your congregations to fast, pray and repent. Nehemiah’s prayer would be a fine model. For those who are laymen, please pray daily for your own relationship with God, for wisdom in raising your children, and for your pastors and their families. And finally, we need to pray that God would send us leaders in our Fellowship that are devoid of ambition and full of a desire to faithfully serve God and His people.
Your Servant in Christ,
Mike
